Everything revolves around food!

Food is so important in our day-to-day life, like we need to think of it even when we are not eating. Like our festivals, celebrations, from birth to death, everything has specific food or menu. Initially, I felt it’s only in India, but later I found that in whole world each culture / location, traditionally have specified menu.      I might not be able to talk about world food culture; I would like to talk about specific Indian food tradition. Our tradition is always combined with science when it comes to food for specified festivals. It depends on the season, location, body needs. Like in January, we have Makar Sankranti when we have preparations made from sesame seeds, peanuts, coconut, jaggery, etc. everything are stuff having oil & warmth giving food. Around March end or April start, we have Gudi Padwa (hindu new year), when we have food which is cooling, since mercury is rising like raw mango’s panha, different chutneys & pickles...

Pani-puri

Image
This is really a miracle dish, which I have loved since I ate it for the 1st time. My chat-shop visit was never complete without pani-puris.  Many times, I went to chat shop only for pani-puris & never thought how much I ate, but still at the age of 34 I am still unsatisfied with pani-puris. Again & again in my life, it has proven my love for pani-puris, by having craving. Latest is lockdown, when we couldn’t get puris for pani-puris, we planned for making the puris at home (didn’t make it, due to some reason), but had the highest level of craving for it. Just to tell all, after 55 days, I had pani-puri at home. But seriously it was divine. Around the globe, pani-puri is made only in India. No were in the world you can get it. When in any 5 star hotels, there are Indian street food festival it is very difficult to explain non-Indians.   They explain it as “water balls with hot sauce”. Recipe – as I prepar...

Benefits for Companies of Consultants doing Work-from-Home during lockdown

I have been looking at the positive sides of lockdown & consultants working from home during Covid 19 pandemics. Firstly, as less to no employees are working in offices, is helpful for companies to reduce the daily recurring cost (operational cost), as reduce in employee can reduce use of stationary or other consumables in office. Also, there is considerable reduction in electricity, water, internet usable. As in future, we will need to avoid group meetings, cabins or conference room will be locked. So, the AC, light, fan use will be reduced in turn electricity bill will be reduce. This can help companies to save some money in this period of global recession. This can continue if company ask employees to do WFH in future too. This lockdown period has given some confidence to employers that people can work from home with better efficiency. There has been growth in productive figures for almost all consultants. There are some other reasons to this, as flexibility is more. No te...

Resuming Office after Lockdown

This is very critical topic for all of us to think & follow. Also, we need to consider common human nature & also Indian people mentality. I had few conversations with many people, newspaper articles, online articles to understand what everyone needs to be done to get back to office & start the office. I am mostly thinking about the company which works online or with computers. This might not work much for any position or company, where physical presence is needed. Few points are – 1.        Company should allow only 30 to 50% people to work from office. 2.        Creating Bubble a.        If people needed in office, then create bubble / group & do not mix those groups. Like with 33% allowed in company, then make 3 groups. Allow only 1 group to work in office for 1 week & then change the group. b.        No one person fro...

Food for Health & Mind – Part 2

Continuing with Part 1 …..  I am bit confused these days, when I hear about food therapy types stuff like food for soul or mind. People eat to enjoy life or when they are in stress or depressed, etc. This might be true, we get hungrier when we are in pressure, stress or depress. But I feel, still we should eat consciously & not to forget in can affect our health. We need to maintain balance of food for our mind & health. We need to make conscious efforts to eat in portion. I am not giving any kind of nutritionist advice, but in efforts in make our mind relaxes if we keep on eating it, then we are harming our health. It’s like exchanging our health to get relaxed mind, which is dangerous. I feel this belief of relaxing our mind with food is like mirage or drug. You might feel relax for some time, as our stomach is full & get satisfaction. But again, after few hours or next day we back to square one. Everything in life is back, nothing changed. But might have degr...

Food for Health & Mind – Part 1

I have always believed that food can be a booster for not just our health, but also for our mind. Since childhood, I have always enjoyed passing my time sitting in a kitchen while my grandma or mom cooking food or even sometimes alone, just enjoying it. It the place in our home while is most active, most happening, attracting all of us. In-fact our primary objective for earning money is to feed our family. Such is our kitchen so special. I feel it not just the place where food is cooked, but also the love, affection, sentiments are poured in our food to make a delicious meal for the whole family. No food can taste good, if it not made with love & affection. That might be the reason we can’t enjoy restaurant food for long time. If anyone feels I am wrong, try eating from same restaurant for long time & day will come when you won’t be able to eat the food or even get nauseated. Going deep further, if you have a cook at home, if the person is making with love, you will continu...
